bears in trees

yesterday we went to stevn's klint... those are a bunch of cliffs we went to this summer, that you need a car to get to (and we have a car right now for a couple of weeks) and the wind was so cold and the water from the sea so busy that i just had the feeling that i should post and not just talk about posting... from our trip to vienna and yesterday's visit to the cliffs, and so i selected all of the photos from greg's phone to upload onto my computer and it was over 600!  not just from vienna and the cliffs of course, but from the summer and maybe the spring.  and when they all went onto my computer they went there in a not chronological order and so they also went onto the blog in that way... well... not all 600 of them, but the ones i thought were my favorites, and that's around 86, which is too many to order when you know your kids are surely on their way home from a long day at the museum with grandma and grandpa and you need to help get dinner on the table... so... as is so often the case these days when i post pictures.. in no particular order... my favorites...

little h...

different town, same fjord...

in sweden with my brother...

big w... still in sweden...

our pre-christmas late night picnic of popcorn and stories...

at the state museum in copenhagen with my friend carrie and her two little ones (not in the picture)...

with the shirts william made us, with help from his aunt and uncle who came to visit...

when you are two, it's easy to get comfortable...

at the experimentarium...

close-up...
(update: that's my glove in the corner)

but he really looks like this... when he's not making that face...

frederiksborg castle with my dad and stepmom...

some of my siblings might recognize the guy in the bright yellow coat...

william on a stone chair at frederiksborg...

william swinging at the playground on a sunny day...

wow... vienna! (update: different yellow coat/person.)

w. in front of a pastry shop in vienna...

horses and buildings, vienna...

william looking into another pastry shop in vienna...

a viennese christmas market...

comfort food at the christmas market...

bears in trees

boys on horses...

the rat house (rathaus)... city hall... vienna... and its christmas market...

henry and his green dinosaur at the christmas market...

dusk in vienna (probably around 4 p.m.)

henry and the big bowl of food.  it is true, he's not wearing his pants...

william and some sushi... this is in vienna, but i swear we ate plenty of sausage and sauerkraut too...

the green dinosaur and grandma...

st. stephen's cathedral after dinner...

william and grandma and hustle and bustle...

leo and a frog (or is it a toad?).  leo came to visit us this summer with his mama and papa.  we took him on a night walk and had to step gingerly around a thousand frogs making their way to the water...

henry and some chickens... when he went berry picking, with his dad...

back in vienna now, at the natural history museum...

henry's favorite dinosaur right now.  the triceratops...

at a castle, at a christmas market, with my mom and aunt...

(update: that's my glove in the bottom corner)

leo again, crawling around a street artist...

me and big dubs...

our family, leo's family, in copenhagen...

henry and a red balloon.  and it's true that he's not wearing any pants...

until i bought him a new pair...

and they played on the pedestrian street...

making christmas cookies...

eating a christmas eve dinner...

santa was here:

william eating ice cream on a sunny summer day (or evening)...

another close up...

running with capes...

eye patch...

at the hospital, waiting on my last round of chemo...

putting up the slackline that santa brought...

and trying it out...

i looked at this picture and wondered what was going on...

and then i saw it was henry washing his bike...

ready to ride...

and now the cliffs! the church...

the churchyard...

in the summer the door is unlocked for you to go inside and see the view...

which is approximately this...

the long way down...

the sun is low in the sky, and it is well before 1 p.m., well after 10 a.m...
(update: glove)

henry says (they're back from the museum now) "that's you.  and henry."

the rocks....

the water... and my glove in the bottom corner...

a church on the edge...

swinging in the bird's nest swing...

henry not content to stay lying down for long...

on our way home, we picked up some apples from a road-side table...

and found a castle in the distance and went to it...

two happy boys, one not so sure...

a date...

and this really made me smile... my friend carrie's son and our boys, dancing the night away...

and that's it!

Wow, that was great! All of them! I especially laughed at the photos of the guys' heads popping up from a field of…. raspberries?

Thanks so much for giving us these images!

Superb! I liked ALL of them. Except the one where it turns out the bike was being washed. Before you explained it, it seemed someone had an accident and the bike was upside in a pool of blood!
When you put these up, I feel like you're coming closer to the normal swing of things again. And that's such a good thing!

Thanks Nina and Phyllis. The boys were popping out of some hedges that were part of a maze in a playground in Sweden.
Nina.. the normal swing of things is my goal! I would love to keep posting... I hope I do it! I have been feeling so disconnected... but at the same time, loving all the reading I've been able to do with my non-posting time in the evenings.

Wonderful photos, I enjoyed them all. Especially the boys popping out of the hedges. And the lake with the clouds reflected. Well, really all!
