sun, sun go away, come again another week

thank god the cinnamon rolls are gone so i don't have to keep eating them.

now that that's out of the way, let's talk about the house.

so the pictures we saw made it look amazingly more up-to-date than it really is.  this is not so much of a problem.  it just has sort of a camping feel and smell.  when you go into the bathrooms and you're walking on those brown tile floors, or maybe you rent a cabin for the weekend and there are metal bunk beds and some built in drawers in the bedrooms and a shallow old sink in the kitchen.  and it all smells musty because maybe you're the first to rent it for the season.

otherwise though, there are big windows in the living room looking out into the big backyard that would be a great place for the guys to explore.  there's even a little shed/guesthouse out there.  and there's a fireplace inside and a fire pit outside.  that's a lot of potential fire.

it's definitely more space than we need in the sense that there would be two toilets to clean and that we're only mediocre at keeping up on the weeds in our 20' by 20' patio that is mostly concrete.  but, it's such a good location that we offered to rent it at a lower price.  we haven't heard back yet.  the owner lives outside of the country and his realtor was there today.  that's another potential issue-- that he may want to continue trying to sell it while he's renting it out.  that would mean another potential move for us, if we were the renters.  so, we'll just see what happens.

here... you can see fancy pictures of it at this link:

(by the way-- this is very typical of the homes posted on sale or rental sites here in denmark-- professionally done photos. nearly spotless rooms.)

when we got home, william and i played 'house.'  i don't think he's ever played house before... at least not that i can think of.  playing house was what i did probably everyday of my childhood, but this was his idea today.  he served us food and drinks and we sat out on the porch drinking our sand and pebbles and pouring them back into the pitcher so we could refill our glass again and drink some more.  it was very sweet.

later, at the shovel park, greg and i sat at the sat at the edge of the playground and marveled at the weather.

"it's really hot right now," greg said.

"yeah, it is." i agreed.  but then i thought about it.  "it's probably not even 80 degrees."

"ehhh...?" he hedged, then, "yeah. you're right."

later, as i was passing through the kitchen from one bedroom to another with a pair of henry's warm pajamas, i said, "i'm just going to throw these in the dirty clothes since he won't be wearing them for awhile because it's so warm now."

but greg said, "i think the weather's supposed to change, starting tomorrow."

ack!

here... let's compare madison's forecast with roskilde's.  it appears the heatwave has passed now for both of us but the sun clearly has chosen its favorite:

and, oh my goodness, did you notice that greg and i were talking about 70 degree weather back there at the park?!  i guess we'd probably require hospitalization if it ever hit 87 here, let alone 100.  neither of those would ever happen though, so i guess we need not hypothesize further.  when i finally went for a run (and by that i mean jog-walk) tonight, the first drops of rain started falling.  let the cold, rainy week officially begin.

but before we give in completely... just two more photos of the sun... on william's face... and coming through our crazy climbing rose vine...

happy sunday!

Danish modern! (Will you fill it with Swedish practical? aka Ikea?) So fitting for where you are!

You are right, it looks positively upscale.

Is the kitchen bright too?

The selling point is, for me at least, the windows. With all that rain, you'll benefit from as much light as you can get in there. Though of course, your rains are almost as unusual as our heatwave is here. Northern Europe has had a very very very wet spring.

Good luck with negotiations!

We would do a lot of Swedish practical I think. But also Danish recycled. And what little American transported we have. Kitchen and bedrooms didn't feel so bright. The kitchen windows are up so high I don't think I'd be able to look out of them easily. But, the living room is very nice and very bright, so we like that. Glad to hear this is unusually wet. You don't hear people talking about the weather that much (so far as I have access to the conversations here)... another difference in my mind at least!
