rain, wind, and cows in your backyard

just before henry and i left for his preschool the skies darkened and it began to rain.  he insisted on taking me through the forest path to get to school so we could get out of the rain.

here he is, rain coat over his winter coat, rain pants, rain boots, walking his bike up a steep path...
here henry, here's what you can tell your grandkids you had to do to get to school when you were four.

what's at the top of the hill... sometimes around here, the top of the hill looks edge-of-the-earth-like (in a good way)...

back on the usual path, on my way home later that morning, there's a cow in someone's backyard.

i'll just make note that later in the afternoon it was very, very windy.  blow those mittens that henry didn't want to wear out of your bike basket windy.

How many miles/kilometers to school? I've been curious about that.

Hi Nina,

About 1.5 km to W's and maybe 2.5-3 km to H's.

I was going to re-ask the Q in your winter post which, btw, is wonderful!
It's funny that Henry should have the longer run, though I suppose he doesn't always bike it himself, right? Ooops! Another question! :)

Hi Nina,

These days he does bike it himself. I can't remember the last time we took him in the burley-- whether it was before or after we got back from our summer trip to the U.S. But it will be interesting to see what happens now that there's snow on the ground. William was a fair weather bicyclist for as long as he could comfortably fit in the burley. Henry was that last winter, but I'm not sure what he'll want to do this winter.

Ah, and the reason it's longer for him is because we moved houses but not preschools. So it used to be a lot closer to our old house/neighborhood. And W goes to the local school.
