blue sky, easter egg, lemon cake

another beautiful day.  william asked me if this was a record.  three sunny days in a row.

last night greg asked me if we were going to do anything for the boys in the morning for easter.  as in, is the easter bunny coming to town?  well, the easter bunny's never come to visit us as far as i can remember.  i suggested not wanting to add another "fantastical" being to the list of he who brings presents on christmas and she who takes teeth away (but not fillings), and he reminded me that it is people like me making fantastica (as in, the neverending story) disappear.  i am really, boringly, realistic in that way.

but we did hide 20 easter eggs full of one, two, and five kroner pieces (so 15, 29, and 74 cents).

gathering them up...

and counting...

later in the morning, greg left for a race (12k) and william set up a 10:30 a.m. lunch picnic for the three of us on the patio...

then we baked another cake.  we don't bake cakes at this rate throughout the year, i swear.  but today is easter and we had guests for dinner and well, a lemon cake seemed just the right thing for dessert on such a sunny, festive day.

measuring out the lemon zest...

waiting for the next step...

and after greg came home, he made some easter bunny rolls...

and the kids (with their friends who came over for an easter dinner) did another easter egg hunt...

which was great fun.

and of the 52 hidden eggs, there may still be a few out there at this late hour that evaded detection from searching little eyes.  isn't that the way it should be?
