sunshiny weather

finally a sunny day the whole day through.  it still wasn't exactly warm, but you could, at times, take off your coat if you were moving enough and staying out of the shade.

this morning the boys found a really nice "fort" where an old shabby one used to be.

inside looking out...

and william orchestrated another outdoor picnic, this time for the whole family, and the worst that happened was that some grapefruit juice spilled.

later we decided to go out to a place near our house that translates to the marsh or the bog.

on our way, sharing the bike path with us...

the walk...

monkey came too...

it was around this point that we could hear william's friend who lives nearishly nearby and his brothers playing outside in their yard...

so william was quite keen on seeing if his friend could hear him using a special wolf call they use to communicate with one another when they're not within normal talking range.  (this is pre-cell phone days, which i suppose will last only as long as their fleeting childhood, if that... sigh.)

through the woods...

the wolf call finally worked when william was right up at the edge of their fence line.  so in the end we imposed ourselves on their family of five, which they were quite gracious about, and we spent the rest of the afternoon in their backyard, hanging around, drinking coffee and beer and juice and helping with yard work.  (i don't take the credit for the latter.  that was greg.)

by the time we got home it was time to make dinner, clean up, do a little kid yoga (which i'm  not counting in my 30 days of yoga, if only because i was hanging laundry for the first 2/3 of it), and, for the under 8s in the house, get to bed.

then blog.
then yoga (maybe).
then poirot.
then bed.

Wonderful woods! My kids always had forts, each one the "best ever!". I'm waiting to see pictures of you in short sleeves without warm hats! Guess I'm waiting for the same thing here in Madison.

Hi Sara,

Me too. It didn't come today. I'm kind of thinking it won't be until May that we're walking around without hats (short sleeves optional). But maybe I'm being too pessimistic!
