heights

it was 59 degrees here this afternoon.  that is warm!  that is so incredibly warm, we celebrated by going to a new park.  a park next to a pedestrian bridge above a busy road.  the park is sheltered from the road by trees, and presumably a fence.  the pedestrian bridge is wide and arched, with kid's-head proof bars, but still, when henry and william decided enough with the park, let's go to the bridge, i was completely freaked out by the optical illusion that the bars would somehow not hold back the combined fifty pounds-worth of my two precious children.  i coaxed them back to the safety straps of the burley with the promise of bananas and water from a water bottle.  never underestimate the power of the water bottle to turn regular drinking water into a magical, addicting beverage.

buckled in, we drove back to the safety of our own earth bound street and rode bikes (or tricycles) and played inside and made dinner.  greg had another late work day as part of a long work week that culminates in an overnight work retreat.  that's a lot of mama, william, henry time, compared to our usual weeks, but we're doing well so far.

here are some park pictures...

note the changing colors in the background... apparently they don't show up in my vision unless the weather's above 50...

balance beam...

the only picture i took on the bridge before the primitive part of my brain got loud...

all is well again with the world...

oh, this little guy was wriggling across the driveway on my way to pick up the guys from school... what do you think he'll look like when he's older?  and is he the kind that's going to eat up all our trees?

Funny how fear can defy the rational when it comes to one's children...

Looks like you have two very happy boys. BTW, is 59 earmuffs weather? I know, for instance, that in Poland, 32 feels way colder than it does in Wisconsin.

Fortunately no, because I lost my earmuffs. I've been pulling my wind coat's hood up and my helmet fits over that. I didn't have to even do that this (yesterday) afternoon. But when it gets really cold. I might have to invest in a new pair of ear muffs.
