saturday

our little adventure today was to the eco-friendly co-housing community where we can recycle things like all of those vinegar bottles we (as in i) went through cleaning this place.

and also going through their free clothing room which was disproportionately stocked with girl clothing, leading me to believe that hardly any boys live in this community or there are so many boys living here that their clothing is in high demand...

but i still found a one-piece (i.e. danish) snowsuit for william, along with two pairs of extra winter gloves, one for each guy, a little winter hood that will pull over the head of one of these boys, whoever will agree to keep it on, and a few other pieces of clothing for william who is just starting to outgrow some of his current duds...

i told greg, 'i like being here, but it makes me kind of sad because i feel like this is where we should be living.'

'i know,' he said.  'i feel at home here so i tell myself i should just walk around and explore and do whatever i want, but i know that i don't live here.  we should just put ourselves on the (something like 100 year) waiting list.'

william too seemed completely at home and content running around here.  and happy.  'do you want a kiss, mama?' he asked me as we were walking back to our bikes.

his turn with the camera...

a cool 19 month old...

we went home and i worked on my danish homework while henry napped and william played and greg got some groceries.

and we had this dinner, which you can see laid out, before the milk was spilled all over the floor, and the-(youngest)-one-who-will-not-be-tamed stuffed lettuce into his glass and then stood on the table wearing only his pants and one sock.
turn your celeriac and carrots into a soup

and then somehow all was calm... a nighttime story (and me distracting them with the camera)...

a good day.

So can you put yourself on the waiting list? you know, just in case...

just in case three years in denmark turns into thirty? yes, we can. it costs a little bit of money-- to be put on the list run by the city, which manages some small section of the homes. i think we're already on the waiting list managed by the co-housing community itself.
